Research audit

Fifty garden-tracking sources

This benchmark combines 30 digital garden tools, 12 university/extension articles, and 8 paper-notebook products. It is a feature and methods audit—not a paid ranking or endorsement.

Photograph consistentlyUse the same angle and distance for growth comparison; take separate close-ups of symptoms.
Measure two widthsNorth–south and east–west spread reveal uneven growth better than one width alone.
Record contextDate, weather, water, soil moisture, phenology, pests, treatments, and harvest explain the picture.
Keep stable identitiesEach specimen has a permanent ID so a replacement or disease event never erases its history.
