Documentary Film Grant Strategy
Working film premise: an Austin touring musician discovers she has stage 4 terminal cancer and decides to plan and complete a European tour while using AI to move faster through booking, routing, admin, grant writing, and tour logistics. This should be framed as an urgent music documentary about time, agency, work, mortality, friendship, and the practical use of AI by an artist facing a compressed life horizon.
Privacy note: cancer prognosis, treatment details, and life expectancy should only appear in applications with Lauren's explicit approval. Grant language can be honest without becoming medically extractive: the strongest version is artist-led, consent-forward, and focused on what the tour makes possible now.
Fastest useful move: cut a 2-4 minute sample/trailer immediately from existing rehearsal, interview, medical-context, AI-planning, and tour-prep material. Most serious documentary grants need at least a sample, and several become much stronger after principal photography has started.
