QuestionVerified answer
Federal baseline—not a facility-specific answer

Federal nursing-home rules address resident choice, suitable meal alternatives, private communications and mail, visitation, and notice around leave/transfer rules. Exact Wi‑Fi/streaming access, delivery procedures, sign-out steps, diet restrictions, and visiting logistics still require facility confirmation.

How to read the map

Distance is useful. Lived accessibility requires more.

Walking highlight

A destination is highlighted as a potential walk when Valhalla finds a pedestrian route of one mile or less. Confirm sidewalks, crossings, shade, slope, gates, operating hours, wheelchair access, and personal mobility needs before relying on it.

Driving distance

Driving mileage and time use the current OpenStreetMap road network. They are estimates, not live traffic predictions. The nearest place by map route may not be the best or most accessible choice.

Natural water

A mapped lake, beach, swimming area, or swimming hole is not proof that swimming is permitted or that water quality is safe. Check the current land manager and health advisories.

Coverage limits

Bird blinds, butterfly gardens, fishing access, trailheads, galleries, and small local businesses are not mapped uniformly. “Not found” means the current public index returned no suitable candidate—not that none exists.

Public data sources

What Happy Life uses—and what each source supplies.

Facility facts come from CMS. Nearby places and routes are calculated from public mapping services only after you select a nursing home.

Facilities

CMS Care Compare Provider Information, modified September 30, 2026; facility records processed September 1, 2026. The scope is active Medicare/Medicaid-certified nursing homes, not every assisted-living residence.

Nearby places

Esri World Geocoding Service supplies public place candidates for libraries, trails, food, errands, culture, nature, and recreation. Names, categories, and operating status can change; verify before travel.

Maps and routing

OpenStreetMap contributors supply the basemap and routable street/path network. Valhalla calculates pedestrian and automobile route estimates. If routing is unavailable, the result says so.

Resident-rights baseline

42 CFR §483.10 and 42 CFR §483.60 provide the federal resident-rights and food/nutrition baseline. They do not substitute for a facility-specific answer.

Privacy

The tool does not request or store the visitor’s location. Selecting a public facility sends its coordinate and nearby candidate coordinates to map/search/routing services, which may retain standard request logs.

Curated bird-blind sources

Because bird blinds are inconsistently indexed in general place databases, Happy Life supplements map search with these public operator pages:
